But the other night to my unpleasant surprise I realized that they changed and went to the obviously cheaper and more generic fat fries with mashed potato filling. I was horrified to say the least, so horrified that I made video to document my disgust. I then started wondering who really does have the best fries?
I particularly remember that Toronto as a city has the best fries, every pizza shop and restaurant has amazing fries, unlike NY where it is hit or miss. If you like real fries, just head over to Burgers Bar, but if you like crunchy skinny fries I definitely recommend Subsational and then newest on my list is Carlos and Gabbys which has McDonalds style fries – which Kosher Delight used to have. Then in the steak houses you get fries with the skins on em – which I happen to like as well.
I am sure one can go on and on all day about who has the best fries, but I am sure we can agree that based on the following video, Kosher Delight has those generic pizza store fries which never satisfy.

Moshes Falafel stop on 6th avenue and 46th street has the best fries in manhattan. They are on par with McDnalds. (thin, fresh, made right when you order them, crispy and DELICIOUS)!!
What restos in Toronto have good fries? None that I’ve ever tasted. Stopped eating french fries a few years ago – they are just so bad for you. Greasy!
The fries at McDonalds in Israel are excellent. My kids went nuts over them and we had to stop in Mevaseret every time we went to Yerushalaim.
(Some people think) That KB in B’more also lost the magical touch their fries used to have.
Mark,
McDonalds in Israel is not kosher, believe it or not! Well at least the one in the tachana hamerkazit (central bus station), and I’m assuming none of them are kosher because if they were, I would have gone to one while I spent my year studying in Israel.
the fino fries are the best. did u move from dallas aficcioly?
yeah Kosher Bite in Baltimore is known for the best fries.
There are a few kosher mcdonalds in Israel, but they tend to be in random places like Bet Shean. There is also one in Mevatzeret Tzion.
yeshiva dude, each McDonald’s branch in Israel is different. Some are not kosher as you mentioned.
But the one is Mevaseret is, as is the one in Gannei Tikvah (near Kiryat Ono). I’m sure there are more but these are the two that I’ve hung out in.
Dallas that is one of the weirdest spellings of officially I have ever seen.
Nah I’ll be back in the end of March.
Hesh, end of March in TX is prime fishing season for bass and stripers.

In that case, you missed out. When I was in Israel with my family a few years ago, we ate at McDonalds in Mevaseret and in Bet Sheean and they each had completely valid teudot kashrut. We did not see any Burger Kings with a Teuda, and there might have been a few other chains that had teudot.
Assuming can sometimes cause you to miss out. Of course, it isn’t that great, so you didn’t miss much, but my kids loved the kids meals with the toy in them!
Mark,
I stand corrected. Maybe the next time I go I’ll make a stop by.
When you come to Silver Spring, nut house has homemade fries while ben-yehudah has the soggy store bought crap kind.
$12.95 for a pastrami sandwich and a fountain drink and fries and salad and dressing and a pickle?! do you realize how cheep tht is?! not to mention you have a mountain of pastrami packed in there, that is SO worth it, even if the fries arent that great,.
Phil,
The end of March is the only time to get a stripper??
KB in Balto has good fries, I like the ones in Caramel Pizza BEST
Homey,
Haha, striper = large member of bass fmaily with stripes on it, was waiting for someone to comment, I baited the line it didn’t take to long to get hit either.
Texas has stripers that wre stocked in their freshwater reservoirs and grow up to 60lbs, even bigger ones in saltwater. NY and NJ have some great stiper fishing in May, Raritan Bay is world famous.
@doctraumu i am afraid to go to Caramel’s… do they have good food there? things are rough in Baltimore since Tov burned down.
Heshy, I feel the SAME exact way about fries. Having grown up eating at the tref MacDonald’s it was nice knowing that KD was there when the MacDonald’s fries craving kicked in. (And by the way, I totally love to milk pregnancy cravings for all there worth, which works out very well for me being an Orthodox woman of chil breaing age!)
All I gotta say is KD better get there act together before I get pregnant next!
Dang it, Homey beat me to such an obvious one.
But when they say everything is bigger in Texas, its true even for the strippers.
There are also kosher McDonalds in the airport and in Beersheva.
Mark, back in my day (98-00), there was a kosher Burger King on Ben Yehuda St.; it was Rabbanut but not Mehadrin, which according to my Rosh Yeshiva means that the meat is not Challak (“Glatt” to us). Assuming you hold by “Glatt Kosher”, the chicken would be okay, but the burgers wouldn’t. Nonetheless, plenty of people I know ate there. I wasn’t much for it, I preferred KFC (which I hear shut down). There was a kosher KFC on Ben Yehuda and in Mevaseret, both of which were BaDatz. Oh, and Mevaseret also used to have a kosher Subway. Well, I haven’t been in Israel since Jan. 2o00, so I’m really behind the times.
Oh, and the funniest kashrus faux pas had to be Sbarros off of Ben Yehuda, which is all dairy (at least the kosher one is). The sign outside said in Hebrew “Kosher L’Mehadrin”, but then in English “Glatt Kosher”. Plenty of us found that mistranslation funny. Well, up until I began working in the non-Jewish world and became exposed to people who actually believe that Kosher merely means “blessed by a Rabbi”. Well, sort of, but no. A te’udah means “approved by a Rabbi”, but some things no amount of Rabbinic blessings can Kasher.
As usual, an innocent post about fries ends up about strippers.
all ur fault, phil
Yeah Yeah, always blame Phil when it’s convenient. Funny thing is I was referring to fish.
Well, unless they also changed, Kosher Hut on Kings Highway used to have great fries. They made it themselves. Just make sure you don’t get repeats.
Phil – strippers? strip clubs? are we seeing a pattern?
You pervs are having a field day. Maybe Hesh should do a strip joint review. Being that he’s always on the road, he can soak up the “culture” in different states and provinces.
Of course tying it into somehting frum might be a tad difficult, maybe see what kind of sheitels they are wearing.

Maybe he could, instead, check what kind of Merkin they are wearing 🙂
Mark,
Merkins and pasties sounds very American, boy have you got some repressed rules in your country. Can religious women wear merkins made from Indian human hair?

Standards vary by community, ask your local Rav.
This is why I love our kosher Indian place. It’s veggitarian, good for you, and only 8$ for an awesome lunch buffet. Most places can’t compete with that.
Seriously , french fries are such a fuking ripoff. 3 bucks for 2 potatoes sliced up and deepfried in nawsty oil ?
shua,
I actually like Carmels pizza and calzones alot. I know I am in the Balto minority here, but, I like it!
Moshe’s falafel has good fried in terms of texture, but they fry in some sort of canola oil. Its healthier, but it has a lower smoke point and the flavor isnt as good. The best fries are at Le Marais and Clubhouse Cafe, where they fry in peanut oil which has a high smoke point. Everyone who eats those fries says they are exactly like McDonalds fries.
Burger’s bar has great fried potatoes, but its a whole different genre of fries.
