Not only was I never taught about Tu’Bav in yeshiva (which means its not that important – similar to never learning nuvee) I never even heard of Tu’Bav until last year when I was invited to a Bang It Out party in honor of the day.
Maybe you all can write something funny down in the comments section?

Tu?Bav is supposed to be as holy as yom kippur & purim! google it.
You never learned about Tu B’av because your Rebbe was too focused on bia shlo c’darcha. This is the holiday for those who do it the old fashioned way.
If you lok into the madrashim and meforshim this day was pretty cool! girls in all white dancing in the vinyards of Jerusalem, all the guys looking to get some come to hang out and peek in from between the bushes to watch the chicks shaking it…
I’m sure today’s Rabbanim would ban the event full force…
I’m guessing it went out of fashion or a few centuries for most folks, and has only recently come back as a day to celebrate on. It was never talked about when I was a kid..
You never heard of it ’cause your PARENTS never told you, a childs education is tied to the parents, not teacher. Plus it usually in the summer and not part of the classwork.
Anyway I love this day since it shows that the current insular sexless jewdiasim in WRONG and not sustainable. Thats why we have such failure rates the more insular you get.
Judiasim is very sexy, literally :)) and proudly so.
I proposed to da wife on Tu B’aV 5 years ago.
I’m all for bringing it back, but Tu b’Av would put an end to the careers of too many Jewish careers including but not limited to:
– Shadchans
-Religious reporters writing about the so called shidduch crisis
– Dorm counsellors / mashgichim out to bust boys and girls mingling
– The vaad ha tznius
– Frumster, Jdate, etc.
Frummie, good one, but I think you need to address schwartzie, not the baal hablog
yenta, you really are one.. of course my parents never taught me about it, but seeing as you are such a yenta, I shall not tell YOU why.
jacob, that’s sweet.
can’t write about tu b’av. too busy rockin’ out in a white dress in a vineyard.
Why isn’t it talked about the yeshivish world at all – I mean not one mention of it on Vos Iz Neias or Yeshiva World News?
pritzus machen!
Some chasidic Rabbis Feer tish today. (Carry tables in literal translation, the chassidish version of a combination of the catwalk and a rock concert…) like, what the hell toes Tu B’av have to do with 200 people looking at some old guy??? you’re supposed to be checkin out the girls now…!

If the party begins tonight at 8 isn’t it a day late? Tu B’Av is history at 8:45 unless you’re chassidish!

The girls were only 11 years old, you morons. There was nothing to look at.
Even boys who are 12 years old like to look at chicks with boobs.

Heshy – did you find one tonight?
A piece of fiction that I wrote about the original Tu B’Av, which I first heard about from the Chabad rabbi in Austin in 1989: http://bookofvoices.wordpress.com/2009/04/10/serah/
