Victorias Secret products to be sold on El Al

victorias secret el al israelNow this is is just another reason for a Charedi boycott or maybe even a terminal riot. How unztnius can you get? First El Al announces flights catering to gays from Europe and now they will sell Victoria’s Secret lingerie and perfume to make your mile high experience more memorable.

I myself am all for the move, especially because El Al spokespersons have stated that on select flights, the flight attendants will be modeling some of the outfits. Now all we need is for one of these flight attendants to be one of the secret mossad guys so they can show off their goods and be one of those super sexy gun toting Goddess’s.

Can you imagine a Charedi getting up in the middle of the flight and rioting? I think this happened already on some flight where they showed an objectionable movie, I wanted to object to them showing the Hannah Montana movie this past time when I flew to Israel, but watched the Transporter (another yeshivish movie) on my netbook instead.

Birthright trips could get much wilder, and I wonder if charedi women will go to the back and secretly buy lingerie so they can feel sexy under their clothing?

But none of this will actually happen because I think they are just going to be selling perfume for now.Maybe they will have the coveted victorias secret catolog, which I used to get in my building from the 6th floor recycling bin on a monthly basis.

  1. Why can’t even charedi women wear the underwear under their clothes? I figure as long as they’re just wearing it for their husbands what’s the big deal?

That reminds me of petitions going around Saudi Arabia for women-only sales clerks at lingerie stores. Since women can’t work in that country, they’ll have some dude trying to sell her thongs and corsets and her humiliated husband having to listen to the whole thing. HA HA.

  2. Yeah I didn’t clarify what I meant with the women over there wearing that stuff. From what I’ve read, they CAN wear it, but just at home in the privacy of their own bedrooms. I figured this would apply to Charedi women as well. Thx E. Fink!

  3. Um, hate to burst your bubble, and possibly gross you out, but a lot of Chareidi women already buy Victoria’s Secret, for the privacy of their own homes.

  4. So do Gulf Arab women, there are several stores in all major cities, (foreign worker) women employees only. There are even women-only hotels where behind the sealed hotel doors, they can dress normal around each other.

  5. I think it’s really based on what you’re used to, charedi or otherwise.

Then again, now that I think about it, if I was totally accustomed to being completely covered up all day long, even wearing regular clothes around just women would be weird.

Like, I wear my hair up in a bun at work (it’s a regulation), so letting it down at the end of the day feels weird.

  6. FC, I am the other way when it comes to regs and hair.. for instance, I NEVER shave when I am not required to by regs, and usually grow my hair out on leave as well…

  7. Oh YEAH leave is a completely different story. You’re not alone, SJ! My hair is styled and amazing looking when I’m on leave – you’d never have guessed that I could attempt at being girly. Ha ha.

I’m pretty sure everybody stops shaving and getting haircuts until the day before they have to go back to work, at least that’s the impression I got at my unit. Not saying we suck, but I think it’d be a pain to shave every day!

  8. How many Chareidi women would walk into such a store?

I was holding up a thong at Kings Plaza shopping center recently (trying to determine its true size) when a fellow frummie walked by and gave me a dirty look.

  9. I recently read on a blog “Freelance writers have a lot in common with Victoria’s Secret models – both are jobs you can do in your underwear.” I guess it will soon apply to El-Al flight attendants.

I recently submitted a guest blog I believe you and your loyal readers will be interested in reading, It’s called

  10. Calm down everyone. Before you get too excited, did any of you read the linked article? It says that they are only selling perfumes and lotions.

  11. Bobby, did you read the article? They’re only selling perfumes and lotions…for now. The goal is to eventually include lingerie as well.

I don’t really have a problem with it, but that’s just me. I live in a place where shopping is never segregated and nobody cares much what you have on under your clothes. I hope that the catalogs aren’t just going to be placed at every seat, though. Passengers should be given the choice to see it or not see it (and the ability to make that choice for their kids as well).

  12. All the men have to do to keep the women from wanting to dress in skimpy revealing clothes is simple… they should wag their fingers and say, “if you go naked, *I* go naked! Our rabbi will go naked! Is *that* what you want?!”

That thought should be enough to make the women want to put on three more layers of clothing.
