Hi,
Are you looking for a great place to go with beautiful accommodations and an awesome atmosphere? Join us as we host the most amazing Shabbat Nachamu ever in the newly renovated (26 Million Dollars) Hanover Marriott in NJ! With the passing of Leibby Kletzky A’H which threw the NY region into turmoil, as well as the upcoming anniversary of the calamity of Tisha B’Av where the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed because Jews couldn’t get along with each other, NYTW has created the Ultimate Shabbos Nachamu Weekend! This Shabbos Nachamu (the first Shabbos after the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash) Jews from all over, be it Machmir or Modern, will unite. The NYTW team will create an atmosphere where we can all get along yet not have to compromise on our individuality.
We will have a separate program for those who prefer, facilitators, shadchanim, and speed dating etc.! While others, will be able to enjoy the free-style approach to mingling. We have use of all the ballroom space which can be broken up into several rooms!
All ages are welcome, though there will be age-appropriate singles programs for each group.
Young marrieds will be able to spend a Shabbos amongst their peers. And for those singles who want to bring their kids, we will have seating for them too.
***
Our master programers will have you occupied all weekend long for those who choose to attend planned activities.
Everyone will enjoy a very laid back, relaxed atmosphere with like-minded people, participating (or not) in only those activities you choose to attend.
Enjoy early check-in 10:00 am and late check-out – 2:00 pm with a farewell BBQ lunch!

heshy i thought this was a parody until i got to the email address and the phone number. no way this is real!
F.Y.I. this IS a parody. The phrase “With the passing of Leibby Kletzky A’H which threw the NY region into turmoil, as well as the upcoming anniversary of the calamity of Tisha B’Av where the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed because Jews couldn’t get along with each other” was NEVER used on the web-site promoting the event. Whomever is so smart to have added these words, should stop!!! Bad-mouthing other people’s business, quoting something that was NEVER said by another person is not good. This is pure Motzi shem ra (“spreading a bad name”) and should be stopped. I kindly suggest the author of this post to apologize to Yaakov because of all of the negative comments this post have caused.
it ABSOLUTELY WAS on the main registration-page of the website – until yesterday – for over a week! of course it has now been removed after all this negative publicity.
I think it’s still on the FB page.
Please tell me this is fake – I can’t believe anyone would stoop so low as to use the murder of an eight-year-old to advertise a singles weekend…
This IS fake!!!
Whomever wrote this post, simply added “With the passing of Leibby Kletzky A’H which threw the NY region into turmoil, as well as the upcoming anniversary of the calamity of Tisha B’Av where the Bais Hamikdash was destroyed because Jews couldn’t get along with each other” to the original ad online. Please consider this as Motzi shem ra (“spreading a bad name”)
Elana, take your head out of the sand: it ABSOLUTELY WAS on the main registration-page of the website – until yesterday – for over a week! of course it has now been removed after all this negative publicity.
This was sent out to the members of a Queens singles email list – I have the original email in true form if you want it.
Its ridiculous….. what does the passing of this pure Neshuma have anything to do with a Singles Shabbaton??????
We all know whats really going on at these Shabbatons
What is really going on at these Shabbaton’s? F-ing like bunnies? If so, I will RSVP ASAP!!!
sorry – not on my events – even the non-religious are respectful.
You can be Respectful and still F**k like bunnies…
I like you.
The best farking is with someone you like or at least respect.
unless you want to be a true dom – then respect seems to go out the window, unless you respect their wishes to be dominated.
Not into that sort of thing. But from what I know of people who are respect and communication are even more important in an S/M relationship. Figuring out what a person’s real limits are, when you’ve crossed them, when it’s OK to cross them and how to have fun without damaging him or her is really hard work.
Sorry buddy, I’ve been to one of your events and about 5 guys tried to sleep with me….. They all try for se… x and the motzei parties. That’s why there’s way more people motzei than for the Shabbatons. This girl there told me she wanted to picked up guys motzei to go to the bar and get drunk. I hate to break it to you but “frum” behave the same as goyim….
(…previously a goya)
I see this Shabbaton will be in a 4 Star Hotel
Not like the one in the Catskills (Kutchers) is infested with Bed-Bugs besides the old moldy smell
Oh boy, folks, that riptide that just threw your grandma out to sea sure looked strong, like this lemon sherbert I have for sale! Who wants some tangy lemon sherbert? I think I see a little crying girl who does.
The connection to the article is tenuous at best, yet this comment has excellent form and aesthetic value. Poignant in a non-sequitor, ADD sort of way. Cheers!
Actually, that comment had outstanding satirical connection to the article. It was brilliant.
That about sums it up.
What does NYTW stand for? Where is the hotel? How much is it? How big will the male to female ratio be?
Also, I avoid events with so many people. I prefer one woman at a time, instead of a crowded events where there are too many women to choose from and too many other men to compete with. I’ll stick with SYAS.
That’s where Levi Aron met his wife.
Good luck with that.
It stands for “Not Your Typical Weekend”, it’s a Jewish events planning company run by a guy by the name of Yaakov Grunstein. Check the website.
I think mentioning Leibby K. A” H maybe was poor form, but I think it was meant well. Of course people make money from everything, but it doesn’t mean the heart is not also involved.
May all who need to find their mate, find & marry, b’karov meheirah b’shaah tovah!!
keyn yehi ratzon!
Amen!
but meet them at another event.
New York Theatre Workshop
New Young Trashier Women
Like all Shabbatons, it’s ridiculously overpriced. It’s $249 for 2 nights in a $79 a night hotel in Jersey. Furthermore, I doubt they are putting everyone in their own room so 4 people in a room amounts to basically costing them $40 for lodging and some money for food.
Wow, imagine that! Shame on people like that!
That’s why when it comes to my events, you are dead wrong! Kindly get your facts straight! The hotel is $129/night! It is double occupancy not quad! We hired a caterer to cater all 8 meals 9 if you include the oneg! DJ, musicians, party planners, etc. all that cost money – unless you would like to sponsor the event!
On the other hand, for all those that can’t afford it, they can get involved and get highly reduced rates!
We are actually having a committee meeting tonight in a pizza shop in the city – FREE PIZZA & FRIES! Come join us!
Feel free to call me (917) 414-5603
Look. This is business.
Misaskim needs a sefer torah – what bettter way to get people to donate money “lieluy nishmas Leiby”?
Hatzolah needs a defriblator – sure – what bettter way to get people to donate money “lieluy nishmas Leiby”?
Your shul needs a new AC and – give us your money “lieluy nishmas Leiby”
Need a new car? – donate money “lieluy nishmas Leiby”
Donate to Kupat Hair – lieluy nishmas Leiby (trust me that’s coming)
Are you a famous Jewish singer that wants to capitalize on Leiby’s death? Just compose a filler grade song in 24 hours!! The people will love it!
So donate money to my tax deductible organization lieluy nishmas Leiby and in the zchus of the boys in Japan held by those anti semites, and in the zchus of Rubashkin and you will be zocheh many good things.
I love the comment name – who would have thought a yiddisher hank rearden
How about “Maccabee” Heshy Wilhelm?
How very true! In fact, there was someone who complained of his status that another person was “promoting” his labor day weekend event at a memorial for Leiby!
I think referencing Leibby was unnecessary and a bit tasteless, but the program itself sounds pretty awesome. I think it’s wonderful that they are being so inclusive of Jews of all ages, denominations, and even singles with kids and young marrieds. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an event of any kind that was quite so, “something for everyone.” It would be interesting to learn if it actually lives up to its hype. If this is real, and anyone reading this actually attends, please post here, and let us know how it went. Thanks.
Batsheva, get real! it is all hype! this is not the only group that has all kinds of singles…other groups have this . . along with lots of programming options for everyone. my friend attended a recent event of theirs and it was horrible!
Zack, actually you are wrong – no one else “creates” programs for the people – they just stick them all into 1 dinning room, create a program for the entire hotel, and that’s that! The 65 + year old & 20 year olds, can go on hikes together, etc..
I would love to hear which event your friend attended. The most recent event was a boat cruise, where over 250 people registered and to my knowledge there was 1 complaint that the boat left late because the prior boat was running late (welcome to our imperfect world). And another complaint by a girl that only got 1 free drink at the 1-hour open bar! I told her, that I gave out almost 30 free drinks after the open bar ended, but next time she sees me I’d be happy to buy her a drink! Not to mention that open bars are estimated at 1 drink per person!
Yaakov, yasher koach on creating what appears to be a very impressive event. It would have been nice if your original promotional material hadn’t mentioned Leiby, but I think your heart was probably in the right place. There are some people who just aren’t happy unless they’re criticizing someone. Just ignore them. Remember, there’s a famous saying that there’s no such thing as “negative publicity.” People who see your event referenced in this column, may well find it intriguing and choose to sign up, despite all the rude comments. I say that, because if I were still single, I definitely would!
Thankx Batsheva, see my posting below.
Interesting Heshy Readen above had a very descriptive point. He left out one, I just heard over Shabbat, that someone else promoted their event by saying they are not mentioning Leiby. People will do anything for a buck – its crazy!
what do i think?
OH HELL NO
ditto!
What’s even more funny to me is that there is an ad on this page for a website called singlemuslim.com, and it shows about 20 profile pictures of attractive women in hijabs.
Singles events are money makers for the hotels, because married people can rarely afford to go.
Actually, it’s not EVEN a singles shabbaton. It’s an anybody who wants to pay our bloody price shabbaton…
WACKY MAC & CHOCOLATE PIZZA — Married people can rarely afford to go to hotels? When I’ve stayed at hotels, to me, the clientele doesn’t seem to be overwhelmingly single.
“And for those singles who want to bring their kids”
best. line. ever.
You do know that a substantial portion of singles, Jewish and otherwise, have children, either from a previous marriage or outside of marriage? There’s nothing uncommon about single parents. It is a great line though, because this is the first Jewish singles event I’ve ever heard of that provided for kids of single parents.
batsheva, of please! There are other events that allow single parent with their kids. this is nothing new.
I could be wrong. I’ve been out of the Jewish Singles scene for 10 years. But I was in it for about twice as long as I was out of it, and I went to more singles shabbatons than I care to recall. Never saw or heard of one that included kids.
Actually, ALL the Shabbos Nachamu programs are open to all people & families.
I simply created a venue where more & less religious people can attend!
I hear this yaakov guy is a life coach. It looks like he need to get some more life coach training, first.
Hey all,
I am the author!
In the past two years (after SYAS stopped running weekends for singles) I created this group called Not Your Typical Weekend Corp. (NYTW EVENTS on FB – or http://www.NYTWevents.com) which has approximately 1800 Jews ages 21-42 who attend the various events that I make. Although most participants are modern orthodox, we are open to everyone! I try to accommodate the different levels of observances at all of the events! Yet, the people that call themselves “machmir” refuse to be at an event with “modern” people.
Therefore the reference to Leiby was NOT to “use” him but rather to martyr him along with the other calamities of this era – which is why I connected him to the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash! The reference to the singles – if you read it carefully, was that the Jews should “UNITE” the machmir & the modern should be able to spend a Shabbos at the same hotel! I have contacted some of the people that head machmir programs – but they didn’t want to hear of it! So, I did it myself!
It’s time we Jews stopped fighting each other & started to help one another! So what if one is less observant, then stick your hand out to help him/her! We are Jews, that is what G-d created us to do – to help others, NOT to be selfish!
As soon as I got a complaint as in the above, I read it again & replied similarly to what I did here. But when I got a second complaint – even though I feel it was done with the right intention, never the less, I didn’t want to offend anyone, and therefore took it down!
As for the reference with singles with kids, etc. the same holds true! This one time a year event – Shabbat Nachamu – is a time where G-d assures us that we will be comforted! And why did he have to do so? Because we just witnessed the destruction of the Temple – solely because we couldn’t get along with our neighbors – sad but true! THEREFORE, although I run a “singles” group all year long – this ONE event is open to ALL! All ages, families, children etc. YET, I will still be running a “singles event” at the same time! And, in this case, there will be a separate program for the machmir & modern crowds – but at least they will be able to mingle if they choose!
Lastly, these events are NOT planned to make money – rather to get JEWS together. If you take a close look at the prices you will see that I am not kidding! The price for the Marriott is inline with the run down Catskill hotels! Additionally, every now & then, people donate money or their services so those less fortunate can attend!
I truly hope that I cleared up any and all misunderstandings!
Feel free to email me any questions you may have NYTWevents@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Yaakov Grunstein
well the parody part is the for all ages part.
Amazing – after all the comments, no one replied to my posts! Hmmmm makes one wonder…. 🙂
PS: We have many marriages from these events!
it’s 9 months later! What a bump!
Yeah – not a day, a week, nor month after I posted. I guess once people realized the truth, they just dropped it – LOL
BTW, it was just posted on FB which is why I posted on it!
who posted it on Facebook?
and what truth did people realize?
to me this is open and shut
it was an inappropriate advertisement.
I don’t know about your events and whether they’re good or not, but the advertisement that was posted over to here was just not right.
Alter, what exactly was inappropriate? Unless you are referring to the fact that your name on here, which is Yiddish for old man, means that you were way to old for the event and your annoyed!
