I am doing nothing unless one of the three people my age in Dallas happen to call me up to go out. To me New Years Eve is just like any other night, unless you have a girlfriend, then things change. I do wish I was in New York because my Jewish humor acquaintance Seth Galena from BangItOut.com invited me to come to their annual New Years party to be held this year at the Empire State Building. I couldn’t come but I don’t mind spreading the word as it will probably be one huge ass kiddush with 800 other folks who got drunk at the kiddush club, I mean pre-game party at their apartments before they hopped on the train.
So for $60 you get a party full of Jews, free kosher food and all you can drink from the open bar. Now thats cheap, I don’t drink much so for me I would have been losing out, well, maybe not since I was invited as a guest – I guess being a blogger has its perks.

I’ll be visiting my wife at the hospital, she just gave birth to our daughter this morning.
I’ll be busy firing up tor and LOIC.
Open Mike/Talent night at our annual house party.
Guests can come (free, I might add) as long as they prepare an “act”. It promises to be quite entertaining. (The more jello shots they’ve had, the more entertaining it gets….)
Phil: Mazal tov!
Mazel tov phil, may she grow up to Torah, chuppah, and maasim tovim.
Ah that explains your absence from the last couple of posts- mazel tov, but you TRS are not off the hook.
If I have nothing intelligent to say than I don’t say it. Actually, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I generally do. Besides, I notice that phil has had time to argue about meat and veggies, so obviously that means that…I don’t actually know what that means. I have a smicha test on basar b’challav in two weeks, you’ll have to excuse me for not giving you the fullest of my attention.
with 2 broken wrists, i can’t even pop my head out the window & bang 2 pot lids together at midnight. it’s gonna b a real quiet new year’s eve
Shira you can watch the ball drop – I think its the dumbest thing in the world. I almost feel that they should implode an old building for new years – go out with a bang.
It was new years already here in Israel and I was prepared to spend the night partying it up studying Hebrew with my ex boyfriend. Instead I welcomed in the new year at my married friends house watching a movie. Man do I feel old and boring.
The ball drop is indeed the most mind boggling form of entertainment americans fall for. How can millions forgo alcohol and parties to stand from 12 PM in one spot in the freezing cold for 12 hours dealing with cops nonstop and barriers and crowds of brainless foreigners who left their country to come here and do the same thing. Blecchhh, youre not even meeting a band for this either.
Yo Hesh…I’m sure you’d love what I’m doing…Gonna go check out a couple of jazz bands in Park Slope. Rub shoulders with all them puppies.
Holla at me yo, its my birthday too!!!!!!!
I’m definitely gonna get crunkin tonite.
Wow, the jewish geography that will be going on at that place, just thinking about it makes me cringe, someone pass me another glass of moscato diasti!!!
Not too sure bit I certainly won’t be murdering any Palestinians for New Years.
The ball dropping is incredibly boring. I used to think that they actaully dropped it off the building, it took ten seconds to fall, and it smashed at the bottom. That would be pretty exciting. Then I got old enough to stay up to 12 and actaully watch it. I was dissapointed to discover that its lowered at a rather sedate pace. Right now people are standing in Times Square to watch this. Its thirty degrees and dropping, with a wind chill that’s supposed to reach zero by midnight. I’m going to stay in my warm bed with my wife and ignore the numbers ticking over.
We try not to celebrate Christian holidays.
Im doing nothing special. We could have a party for all those who are doing nothing, and we could do absolutely nothing there. Ooooh the fun we would have, of course no one would come because they are doing nothing.
Well I just two hours writing the latest post so you better get on it
Thanks for the M.T’s and kind wishes, I’m in an out of the office but still checking emails. Thank God my family lives around the corner and my older kids help with the ounger ones, it makes life a lot easier at times like these.
BTW, I named her Chaya this morning, after my wife’s late grandomther, most guys were wondering why I left out Mushka.
Mazal Tov, Phil. May she not become anorexic like all the other frum girls today.
Didn’t do anything special – just enjoyed the night at home.
I’m still trying to figure out if you’re funnier then bangitout, who I’ve been getting emails from for years. I think they’re running out of original material. Your stuff is more targeted at the yeshivish crowd, as opposed to UWS MO, so now I think you’re the funniest JewBlog.
