Tznius Alert

While taking the A train this morning along with all the YU guys who have internships on Wall Street I noticed something very disturbing, a real breach in tznius. I saw a very pretty young lady, she looked frum which means that I’m only allowed to check her out if she’s unmarried.

I checked for the usual signs of marriage – the sheitel, but I couldn’t tell whether she was wearing a sheitel or not because she was wearing a knitted hat over her hair – I checked for a ring, but she was wearing gloves so I couldn’t tell whether there was a ring there or not.

This is a problem, folks, a real problem. The whole point in differentiating between married and unmarried women is so that we guys can know in advance whether we’re allowed to check the woman out, hit on her, or even take advantage of her; and if we do do it, whom we’ll have hurt by our actions – merely a girl or her husband.

According to this comment from a few years ago there are “a few gorgeous sheitels” in Har Nof, I think they should rethink the policy of allowing gorgeous sheitels. This lack of tznius is especially troubling at a time when Arab terrorists are keeping a sharp eye on our tznius levels to know whether they should attack us or not, and although our tzinus levels in the US are much higher than those in Israel, as evidenced by our escape from terrorism so far, still, one can never be careful enough.

Therefore I suggest that anyone concerned about the safety of Frum Jews should take away all hats and gloves from their wives. I know that not everyone is on a madreigah to do this, but I’m sure that real Frum Jews like those in Kiryas Joel, New Square and Lakewood will lead the pack and the rest of Klal Yisreol will IY”H follow.

  1. At times i thought your columns were funny, at times a bit rude, and sometimes bordering on stupid, this time you nailed it. I mean you knocked it out of the ball park, on absolutely disrespectful, disgusting, inconsiderate, hurtful, and i can go on and on. Only an absolute moron would write such distasteful crap at the expense of those Kedoshim that lost there lives to subhuman animals. You should be ashamed! At a time like this when Klal Yisroel is hurting from what happened in Har Nof, you make jokes at there expense. Maybe your just as stupid as the vile two that preformed this heinous act.

    Signed Aharon (Sir. unsubscribed)

    1. Aharon, if you’re offended by this don’t read it. There. Solved it.
I mean, if you’re looking for things to be offended by on the internet I’m sure I can hook you up.

    2. I agree that this is in bad taste.

Yet, and I’m embarrassed to admit it, my first thought when I read about the tragedy was, “I guess their learning didn’t protect them.”

I guarantee that there are people blaming this tragedy on a lack of tznius. It’s been the go-to reason for tragedies for at least a decade now.

    3. “HaGaon HaRav Shalom Cohen Shlita: 12:55: Rabbi Shalom Cohen Shlita, head of the Shas Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael explains that the bitul Torah and complacency are contributory causes to such horrific acts calling on the tzibur to add additional limud Torah and tefilos to their daily schedules.”

    4. you sir, are a idiot. and cant see that this bit of satire reflects to a very great degree exactly what your precious gedolim are saying.

also you selective sensitivity is disgusting and abhorrent.

    5. Ok, I know I said I can hook you up with things on the internet to offend you, but I can’t find the relevant images. Basically, the slogans go “”???? ?????? ?????? ?????? “?????? ?????? ?????? ???????” – if you don’t understand Hebrew, it means “dressing modestly prevents terrorist attacks”. These stickers were hung up all over Jerusalem. I’m sure you’ll have a lot to say now about how ashamed this organization should be of themselves, and how they are just as vile as the terrorists.

  2. What happened to “Don’t look at a pretty woman, even if she’s single, or a married woman, even if she’s ugly?”

    1. ‘Don’t look’?? He’s way past looking… up to hitting on and taking advantage of….

Gemara wasn’t written for people who are going to do whatever the @#$% they want anyway.

      1. He was joking about doing those things… (I hope.)
Anyway, my point was that his talk of “she looked frum which means that I’m only allowed to check her out if she’s unmarried” is a bunch of nonsense. (I don’t know of any reason why whether she was frum or not would matter either.)

(Ah, der heilige language of der Heilige Lakewooder…
My idea of heilige Lakewood doesn’t include it. Yes, I do live in Lakewood.)

        1. The Heilige Torah, and ChaZa”L, too, used ‘colorful language’ that is not meant to be spoken, when describing things that polite language doesn’t properly capture. See????? ?? ?”?.

          1. As to whether he was joking about *doing* [xyz], I do not know. But I do know what he *did*. He wrote that he [AND I QUOTE] “saw a very pretty young lady”.
According to ???? ?? ?”? he is deserving of ????.

          2. I am familiar with the Gemara in Megilla (it’s kind of funny how little profanity has changed in the last 1600 years).
The desire to emphasize “whatever” does not seem to me like such a situation – AYLOR. 🙂
(I am aware of “HaElokim! The verse requires a vav the size of an oar.”)

Is the Gemara in Sotah the one about Rabi Yehoshua ben Perachya, Yeshu, and the achsena’i? Do we know for sure that that applies nowadays as well?
I’ll have to look up the one in Chagiga. (I’m not going to look up the Yaavetz – you can post it if you want.)

It is possible that the whole incident was made up for the purposes of the article, regardless of what he says in it.

  3. I know its over a month since they were killed and this satire was posted, but I just read it.
And yes I feel very nauseous, just like the rest of you.
The only thing I can say is: yes there are times that I think about going OTD. I guess there are times that Im already half way there.
And then I read posts like these from people on the other side. And I quickly change my mind.
I guess God has strange ways of keeping people frum. For me its reading the and realizing how sick and psycho people like Heshy and so much the OTD side is.
