I have needed a new laptop for sometime, my computer is constantly frozen and the latest issue is that it doesn’t allow me to access any wireless networks. Everyone says get a mac, I tell them to give me a thousand bucks, I simply cannot afford any computer at the moment – if things really get bad – I may have to ask for donations. I am writing this from a one bar open network in San Francisco, where I am wondering how I can be a full time blogger without a computer that can access the net – stay tuned – because when I do come back to you folks I will have lots to say. It’s one thing to be on vacation from work, another not to be able to do it when you want to.
P.S. if anyone does want to donate an old laptop to the frum satire fund, I am more than willing to take it – the one I use currently is my original computer from 2004 and it seems to be on its last whim.
Hopefully I will get some help with my problem soon…

You may hate me for saying this because you may have thought of this one, but here goes: if money is an issue, backup your most important files (borrow an external drive if ness.), and reinstall. Save your product keys. If that a comfortable solution? Or are you looking to get state-of-the-art?
I have an external HD with everything backed up
Can you get a used Mac?
Look for those cheap $200-$400 laptops… netbooks… it’ll last you long enough until you can save for a mac.

Backup your important stuff such as pictures, music, docs etc.. An reformat your laptop it will be just like brand new.

Macs are nice, but you really don’t need one. For what you need a cheap netbook could fill the bill. Or get a used laptop. If you can’t afford to buy the laptop and Windows 7 install Ubuntu Linux for free.
I’ve been using a netbook – 10 inch EEE PC for the last year and a half, they are great, mine only cost around $350. They don’t play fancy games or do any fancy things, but for web browsing and writing, they are awesome.
Is this another hacker thing/April Fool’s Day joke like on Chavi’s site about being trapped in London? You bought a brand new netbook a few months ago from B&H photo and wrote a whole blog post about what a kiddush hashem it was….
I lent it to my brother out of good faith and now he doesn’t want to give it back – welcome to the trials of my chesed life.

I also have an EEE PC and I love it–good netbooks keep getting cheaper, and if you need to bridge the gap until you can afford a more full-time computer, they’re extremely portable, have forever battery life and can easily upload photos/video, access the web, word process etc. Top rated run from $200-$400 http://reviews.cnet.com/best-netbooks/?tag=mncol;pm
Good Luck!

I posted the link to the post where you talk about the netbook you bought from B&H and it didn’t come through (not that its hard to find) Did it break or do you need a more powerful comp? I would buy a used mac or something.
I have an old MacBook that works. If you’re interested, contact me and we can make arrangements to get it to you.
