Jimmy Carter Forced to Apologize to Jews, AIPAC Celebrates Job Well Done

And the Jews had light, and happiness, and joy and honor. Yes, we had all those things and more when President Jimmy Carter sheepishly apologized for insulting our sensibilities and for having the chutzpah to voice his very  own perspective on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. And wouldn’t you know it- that momzer Abe Foxman was right there, front and center, to magnanimously accept Carter’s apology with the paternalism and condescension that are so becoming in a director of the Anti-Defamation League.

To be fair, Foxman and his family have suffered the terrible consequences of anti-Semitism, and I respect that. Of course, that doesn’t preclude him from being a putz.

Foxman and the ADL purport in their charter to fight “Anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry [at home] and abroad,” and to “come to the aid of victims of bigotry.” And yet, they were against labeling the Armenian genocide as such, and, when I searched for an ADL response to the massacre in Darfur, I found a webpage that appears to have been inactive since 2004.

And nuch, look at what Foxman has to say about Avigdor Leiberman’s proposal that all Israeli citizens sign a loyalty oath:

“I have a lot of problems with the proposed language because by including a pledge to Zionism it smacks of discrimination,” he says.

This, Abe? This smacks of discrimination? Is this what it takes? Magavnikim piss on Arabs every day, but it is the loyalty oath that really smacks of discrimination.

What really gets my goat is that whether it is criticism of the Israeli government, or the invoking of Hitler or the holocaust, the ADL seems to think that it is the arbiter of what is or isn’t appropriate. Well, wake up Foxman, you don’t have a monopoly on the holocaust. I don’t know what I’m going to do if I see this guy whining and fidgeting one more time after some British or Norwegian politician  calls someone a Nazi, right before he himself turns around and says something about Ahmadinejad being the next Hitler.

Anyway.

What does all this have to do with Carter’s apology to the Jews? The answer is that these things are symptomatic of a greater hypocrisy that pervades Am Yisrael’s (secular) leadership, and, to some extent, the nation as a whole. It is more than just a chillul Hashem to ignore the suffering of another people- it is an obstacle to peace, and sweeping the hardship of the Palestinians under the rug should not need to be a priority of senior American politicians who are ostensibly here to mediate between the two sides. Look at what Nancy Pelosi said to placate us, in response to Carter’s book: “It is wrong to suggest that the Jewish people would support a government in Israel or anywhere else that institutionalizes ethnically based oppression, and Democrats reject that allegation vigorously.”

Well, let’s see- we’re building a separation wall, Palestinians are forced to stand in checkpoints in order to go anywhere, and all Arab-looking people are subject to random ID inspection. Israeli Arabs receive poorer educations and reduced municipal services. Sound anything like apartheid to you? Not yet? Maybe we should hear what Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak had to say about it in an article I read in today’s Jerusalem Post: “[If Israel] continues to control millions of Palestinians, it will end up with a state that is not Jewish, or a state which is not democratic – an apartheid state. These two options do not fulfill the Zionist vision which stands at the forefront of the government’s thought process.”

In Barak’s logic, the only reason Israel is not an apartheid state is because we haven’t officially annexed the West Bank and Gaza strip. He seems to be implying that it’s OK to treat people like we are as long as they are not actual citizens of our country- but if they do become citizens, we’re in trouble, because then we will be living in an apartheid state.

Whatever.

At least Barak recognizes that a two-state solution is the only way that we can prevent either 1) the naturalization of the Palestinians, thus ending the Jewish democratic majority in Israel, or,  2) the continued human rights abuses against the Palestinian population.

Carter is fighting for a two-state solution, just like everybody else. Except that because he is not tangled up in corrupt Israeli politics, he is not afraid to state that occupation and building on land designated for a future Palestinian state is counterproductive. I do not hate Israel or the Jews. I served in the IDF, and met plenty of others there who share my opinions. So why must Jimmy Carter hate the Jews just because he criticizes their actions? He doesn’t owe us an apology- we owe him one. Yeah, Carter is pretty hard on us sometimes, but it is sheer weakness and insecurity that forces the Jewish people to quash all criticism of our behavior, denouncing it as anti-Semitism, and it is a shame that the man who orchestrated the first Arab-Israeli peace agreement should be forced to say an Al Chet because a bunch of crooked, pigheaded lobbyists have convinced us that he hates Jews.

  1. Nice one Schwartzie. It really p-s me off that any legitimate criticism of us gets lumped in with the real anti-Semitism….

  2. I don’t usually agree with Carter, but he did help bring peace between Israel and some of its neighbors. The truth is we have 4 options
    1) Annexation of West Bank and Gaza ->Apartheid state
2)Expulsion of all Arabs and Annexation ->Cruel to Arabs and unbecoming of Jews. Israel will lose support among western nations and a nation like Israel dependent on exports can’t be isolated and maintain status quo.
3)One state with equality->Loss of a Jewish State.
    4) Two/Three State solution->Anger the Israeli Right.

Carter is a complete dumbass to legitimatize Hamas and provoke Anti-Semitism, but at least he wants a two state solution. His methods and ideas are way off and should be ignored, but his intentions are good.

  3. Well said, well said! Good to see this piece on FrumSatire. I couldn’t have written it better myself. BTW, the ADL is just begging to be satirized. Over, and over, and over.

  4. Great. Another self-loathing Jew too scared to say that Israel is the land that God promised to our forefathers. Not bits and pieces of land, somes here, some there, demarcated by the pure, God-fearing, truth-loving nations of the Turks, Brits or even, G-d forbid, the UN.

We’re either Jews or we’re not. So lets be clear that the fundamental 101 of Jewish reality is that God gave us the Torah and with it came a land that was created for the Jewish people. Even Jimmy Wales at Wikipedia knows this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_of_Israel

Open your 5 books and go to parsha Shelach. Read about the spies and their rejection of the land. Every tragedy of the 9th AV including of course the destruction of both temples, relates to that first seminal event. Go consult the workd of the Maharal. Learn something before you spout off. Essentially we suffer in this world of the non-Jews because we rejected the land. 3500 years on and aplogists like you (Schwartzie) are making the same destructive mistake. If you really don’t believe, do us REAL Jews a big favor. Change your name from Schwartzie to Black and quietly fade away into the assimilated land of Goyville.

  5. “Well, let’s see- we’re building a separation wall, Palestinians are forced to stand in checkpoints in order to go anywhere, and all Arab-looking people are subject to random ID inspection”
Well, seeing that the Palestinians are trying to blow civilians up, it kinda makes sense to have a wall keeping them out and random checkpoints. Unless of course, you are of the opinion that we shouldn’t practice racial profiling on guys like Abdulmutallab?

  6. I agree with FarFrumIt. I think racial profiling is legitimate for Israel’s safety. Just as EL AL is the safest airline in the world because of this procedure. Most people are asked two or three question and that’s it.

  7. Well, Abdulmutallab was Nigerian, and most African Muslims happen to be quite moderate and distant from the Middle-East conflict mentality. The truth is that I have been concerned for some time that American black Muslims would be recruited while in prison or elsewhere to spread terror, and I think that this is a bigger threat than anything to be found on the African continent- and harder to detect. Certainly racial profiling won’t help, as black Muslims are a small minority in relation to the Christian or unaffiliated African-American community.

That was a side issue, but here’s the point- I was not able to provide a comprehensive viewpoint on the entire Israeli-Palestinian conflict in this one article, and I would like to stress that I fall strongly on the side of the Israelis. We deserve to be in Israel, and many left-wing activists ignore this fact.

Many years living in Israel have taught me that the government is corrupt, and worse, is not committed to peace at all. While checkpoints may have been a short-term solution, there is no excuse for them any longer. I have seen firsthand the suffering that they cause, and I know for certain that if we had worked harder to strengthen the Palestinian infrastructure, they would no longer be necessary.

We must not shun criticism of our policies, because the government is cold and selfish and pulled in many directions by politicians at cross-purposes. What we should do is recognize that there is a humanitarian crisis on our hands and try our best to move forward from here.

I just think that this problem needs to be handled with finesse, and that is one thing that Israel is no good at. Our public relations are horrendous, and we are not gaining any credit with our bumbling, heavy-handed policies. Schwartz out.

  8. I’m with Jon Kaye on this one. You dreamers that think we’ll ever have peace with the arabs are sadly mistaken, and are destroying our legitimate right to the land with stupid statements such as this post.

Every muslim knows that it is forbidden to make peace with infidels that take what they perceive to be their land unless it’s a temporary peace to be voided once they are strong enough to attack again. Don’t take my word for it, read the koran.

The only person that had the right solution to the arab problem in Israel was R. Meir Kahane, and unfortunately he isn’t around. We will only have true peace when the arabs are gone from Israel and afraid of us.

As for the supreme idiot / worst president in history, aka Jimmy Carter, he should go back to his peanut gallery.

  9. Why not let the Arab residents in Judea and Samaria have Jordanian citizenship, like they did until 1988?

  10. “but it is sheer weakness and insecurity that forces the Jewish people to quash all criticism of our behavior, denouncing it as anti-Semitism”

The weak will never willingly empower the strong, for that would compromise their position.

  11. jimmy carter anti semimetic WASP that kisses the graves of terrorists. and should be apologizing for even existing.

All lefty jews out there that think that a palastinian muslim would not chop you f*ing head off like the Pakastanis did to Daniel Pearl you are crazy. you would indanger all of our brothers and egalitate the state of Israel. i would jump the pond first and fight to the death.

Barak “the Rockstar” Obama hates Israel.. and is a palastinian/ muslim sympathizer, wants to close gitmo, and has all the foreign policies typical of a leftist dem. he is a robot of his party’s politics, as is anyone else.

Wake up!! these are not poor black people being opressed. this is not sudan or south africa. these are a people that deny our existance, that shoot rockets as far inland as they can from gaza, that straps bombs on mentally retarded kids for the sake of Allah. these people are our enemies. they are not “misunderstood”.

they are very plain, they wish us gone. all palastinians can go and live in jordan, but wont. Israel is a Jewish state, not the “United States” its NOT for everyone, it is for Jews. thats it. that is what it was create for. because we have no where else to go thst is where we can go.

i am very left on somethings and very right on others. this should not be an issue. this is a jewish state and they are surrounded by countries that want to destroy them. and israel might be corrupt and not want peace, but maybe they realize there can be no peace. because there will never be peace.
