Thank you Steven D. for posting this on my wall the other night.

  1. First of all what the fuck. Second do they want to stop intermarriage or just make sure that u light candles and ur kids r raised semijewish? And wen will these dumasses stop trying to get a fucking kiruv award and realize that they’re embarrassing themselves and the rest of us

    1. for an intermarried couple who just becomes engaged, you can’t tell them flat out that it’s a terrible thing because it wont produce anything positive and just make them rebel against Yiddishkeit more. By suggesting 1 particular mitzvoh, and showing it in a loving/beautiful way, the likelihood of her taking it upon herself and accepting it is far greater. Small steps with lots of love are key when dealing with the delicate neshomos; any harshness will only push them further away.

  2. Oh vey awful. So cheesy and unrealistic. Won’t convince anyone. If anything, it’ll only offend. I heard Lubavitch nigun at the end. Please don’t tell me someone Lubavitch made this crap.

    1. Yeah… Pretty sure the video poster is Lubavitch looking at the other videos on the channel but who really knows if that means anything.

      1. Ummm….so Maimonedes was Chabad? I sort of recall something in the 13 principles about Moshiach…..and waiting eagerly though he may tarry. But what do I know?

  3. On an unrelated issue, this article has made me discover the chabad monopoly on wikipedia articles no one cares enough to edit.

  4. This is definitely the work of some idiot out to embarrass Chabad. The stuff they put out on Chabad.Org or Torah Cafe is much more professional.

  5. Guys come on, at least they’re trying. I will also say, that intermarriage is really a symptom of a problem. We not doing enough to reach our fellow Jews. I don’t believe in having this agenda to make people become from, but at least help people feel connected to their Judaism.

    1. Intermarriage is a symptom of two people falling in love with each other. To them, this is not a problem. It’s a joyous occasion for them.

The Kiruv community fails to see that you cannot tell someone who is in love with someone else that “we really think you should love something else, something you might not know much about, but it’s something I love, so I assume you will love it too. Oh and while you are at it, stop loving that person, since I don’t.”

It is mindlessness to the highest degree. They are not trying, they are simply being dense. Trying implies that they first seek to understand, then to be understood.

  6. you would think that if all that stuff about moshiach were true, it would have been mentioned AT LEAST ONCE in the book which god wrote.

the moshiach stuff is such BS i am shocked it has such traction in the frum community.

    1. and anything to do with the afterlife, I cannot think of a more perfect definition of the phrase “wishful thinking”

      1. You guys are morons, and seem to show up as a duo in like virtually every J-blog out there. Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb

        1. your friend, i noticed that too! we happen to be friends, with similar interests – you probably have the same thing with your friends, i would imagine….hang out at the same places, talk about the same sports teams….

but please explain….why “morons” specifically? or do you just not like, or disagree with our comments?

          thanks

  7. I feel like the video’s not about intermarriage. Why else would it have that ending? I think it’s about the absurdity of pointing the finger at symptoms rather than trying to correct the underlying problems.

  8. The first logical flaw is that if every Jew intermarried there would be no more Jews is simply not true. Jewish mother = Jewish kids.

  9. Danny: Oh look, here comes MY uncle, Guido Sarducci. Guido
is a Catholic priest. He’s a little upset about this engagement.

Father Guido: Hi Danny, nice to meet you Nancy. Nancy, are you planning on bringing up your children as Catholics? Because, you know that Danny has an obligation, as a Catholic, to see that his children are brought up in the Faith. In fact, this marriage could be annulled if Danny did not intend to do so.

Nancy: No, I didn’t know this, but thanks for telling me. I wouldn’t want Danny to get into trouble. I’ll make sure they’re baptized and get to CCD classes when the time comes.

Father Mario: Good. And as for you, St. Paul tells us “the unbelieving wife shall be saved by the believing husband” but wouldn’t you rather go to heaven on your own hook? Why don’t you accept Jesus into your heart?

Nancy: OK, fine. I’m open to it.

Father Mario: Great. Well, I don’t want to monopolize all your time. I see your cousin, Bernie Madoff, is here. I think he wants to talk to you about some investment ideas.

Nancy and Danny together: Oh good, because we have a lot of money and we have absolutely no idea what to do with it.

    1. Doesn’t make sense in reverse if only because non-Jews are way more open to Judaism and Jewish tradition than Jews are to their own religion (much less Christianity).

      1. Synapse,
you may be confusing Christianity with Catholicism. Catholics who marry out of the faith get an earful about raising their kids Catholic, sending them to CCD (sorta like NCSY but more focused on education), and other matters of faith. Yes, they have officially decided that we did not murder their god (after about 1600 years of teaching their flock otherwise), but they don’t look forward to their children marrying out of their faith either.

CatholicMom makes a point. This video takes a slanted perspective by assuming that there is only one Uncle Stan in the story. There may very well be another. I know couples who were duel-pressured. As a result when the wife insisted on a bris, the husband agreed on condition that he get baptized too. Every time the mom brought the kid to shul (temple) the father would take him to mass the next day.

  10. Oops, I changed Guido to Mario half way through. Hey — all those Italian names with the vowel ending look alike to me anyway.

  11. I tried to force myself to not click play. It was very difficult.
It was more seductive than any video that comes my way. Those I click without hesitation.
But this one — it took effort to hold back. But I caved in. I clicked play. And I almost barfed.
It is an insult to the word “wrong” to call this video wrong.

I think Stan could have been a bit more offensive by reminding the goy that it’s not just that her niece is special, but that he and his family are untermenchen, as they lack a neshama yehudi (something I read in the Tanya — don’t worry, I kloped al-cheit for doing that). He could have told him that there is no way for him to erase the image of marauding crusaders impaling Jews in the shtetel, and that we are incapable of seeing a non-Jew as anything but someone whom G-d created to serve our needs. Stan was far too refined and classy for this video to have it’s intended effect. I think we need to find us some Jewish Malcolm X types to make the next set of kiruv videos.

  12. This video is a bit confusing, but I think the message he is trying to convey is: stop worrying about intermarriage, and just start recognizing your jewish heritage and act upon it, and the problem will solve itself!

  13. Third reason that people may non jews is because they can’t stand how disgusting Jews are. I grew up frum and going to actual congregations like Darchei Noam of Oceanside that treat Jews like shit……….. I am soon getting married to a French non-jewish woman.

  14. This is wrong on so many levels.

Of what could it convince anyone other than the outright douchiness of whoever posted it?

And what in the world does “La Marseillaise” have to do with Judaism???
