Frummies sue for damaged wig on The People’s Court

Thanks to Gabe for sending me this video, it’s hilarious and very sad at the same time, two frummies (they seem like tuna beigels to me, they are chassidim that don’t dress the part, notice the accents) claim their $3,000 sheitle was washed by the dry cleaners by accidentally and these Jews want their money. The judge figures out they are lying and this is one of those huge chillul Hashems and a good lesson for those watching – God is in control – don’t f*ck with his authority!

Letters to the Editor 95 letters since 2010

    1. Go check some other blogs that posted it…a couple people claim to know them …it does seem that tuna baigel is a correct adjective if the claims of where they are from are true.

    2. Or, we should keep it up. So that others like them think twice about doing this in the future. Because it’s giving the rest of us Jews a really bad name.

    3. They voluntarily went on TV. Not only are they stupid enough to lie to the judge, they’re stupid enough to think no one will recognize them.

    4. this has nothing to do with putting shame to them or not, however it mightnot be the nicest thing. they went on tv, and decided to publicize this and this is what happened

    5. Avrahamct- you don’t think these people have embarrassed themselves. No one told them to take this to a national TV show for resolution. They put themselves in the spot light and then had the unmitigated audacity to LIE. The best is when the wife says, “Georgie, is in France. How could the judge have spoken to her.”

  1. I am not surprised…No longer are the days of day trading, mortgages, real estate-or any other career choices for the shvitzers and hockers of boro park, flat bush, etc. as viable as they once were. These jobs are limited to the more legitimate workers -ones with degrees. He talks about his office and I am sure he ain’t doing too well or else why try such a scam. Guy and his bitch are so f ing dumb to think they can outsmart the judge. What arrogance…but this is just the trend-why?-cuz the cleaners and judge and all others are goyim-hence, below them.

  2. If you’re going to act like a bad Jewish stereotype please keep it close to home, not on national television.

  3. Heshy,
Not sure y this is “hilarious”. You should be crying that such a Chilul Hashem occurred. We all suffer because of it.

  4. You guys are WAY TOO HARSH. Please let’s be dan l’caf zechus and just say that they needed the three grand for their kids cheder tuition(hey little moishy want to go to cheder this year?Put mommy’s shietle in the dry cleaning bag!)
Hence they have the heter of osek bmitzvah patur min hamitzvah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Sorry, Heshy. Not hilarious. Really, really sad, disturbing, and utterly disgusting. What the hell were they thinking?? If anyone knows them, please see what their side of the story is. Do they have any excuse?

  6. very very funny. What fools, my favorite is them not wanting to give their names to protect their anonymity on national TV.

    1. i was thinking the same thing. there on tv people are going to recognize them regardless of weather they give there full name or not

      1. But they were afraid that out of curiosity the people they know would look up who appeared on “Peoples court” just to see if they know anybody?

    1. easy – not everybody at the store was out of town, you dont need the boss to tell what brands of wigs they carry.
Though I have a question for you that i cant figure out, If they went to 3 stores then it wasnt obvious to them that the wig couldnt be fixed, and they shouldve known to get some written statement stating that?
If it was obvious, then why bother going to 3 stores? How can at least one of those statements not be a lie?

  7. Come on guys I KNOW the comments wouldn’t be this bad if the guy was wearing a knitted kippah! You guys are a bunch of bitter ex-charaidim who go hazed back in 9th grade yeshivah high school. If you went to the Army you would have got hazed in the Army and been bitter about anyone who wears the greens. Same personality different situation. Your not really pissed at the yeshiva world you are pissed at the “the bully”, remember that!!

    1. I am sorry for saying this, because its mean. But I will-cuz I think you need to hear this: You’re a dumb-ass!…I am not an ex-chareidi. Was in high school and still am now. I am mainstream orthodox, as are my friends who read this blog. But since you are a complete dumb-ass, I will give you an education to help your naivety. I don’t work with Jewish people and most of my career has been in ‘secular’ companies in various healthcare facilities. I have had many conversations with colleagues about their perceptions and some were very forth-going with their stereotypes and biases, which I truly value (their honesty, that is). Now if some damn F-ing tuna bagel goes on TV and then reinforces every stereotype that they have, do you think this helps the perception of non jews toward us? Do you think they differentiate between the type of yalmukah’s like we do? Get your head out of the sand and please do us a favor and keep your asinine remarks to yourself.

      1. Uh, excuse me DOC

Everyone is entitled to thier opinions. That is why its called a BLOG. We can respectfully agree to disagree. No need for name calling. I welcome your opinion and you should welcome mine. I didn’t say anything really wacky or off the wall that was so “offensive” that deserved such a verbal flogging

        Yours Truly,
        Bsamim

        Peace and Love

        1. Good call…I noticed the typo after I hit submit. I meant I and the friends of mine who read this blog, currently and have always been mainstream orthodox and not ex chareidi…

      2. Dear DOC,
You missed the whole point. Lets say the show was about a BLACK LADY and her boyfriend v The Dry Cleaners, I’ll go to vagas 1,000,000 to 1 the there wouldn’t be ONE SINGLE COMMENT how “these black people ” are giving a bad name to African Amricans all across the world!!!!

        Agree or Disagree?

        Peace and Love

        1. Are u for real?…please tell me this is a joke?…ok, haha…
Seriously?! U stick a couple black people instead of the Jewish couple and u dont think ur gonna get loads of comments about blacks, stereotypes flying left and right, saying how such thugs give the good, honest working blacks a bad name?…come on now, u must have eaten too many latkeys or something to be saying this.

          1. DOC

Yes, indeed I do admit there would be comments, but not as many. YOU KNOW IT. You even said in your example of what someone might theoretically comment in that situation “how such thugs give the good, honest working BLACKS a bad name?” in other words they have sunk to the sub-human level of the colloquel “thug” just fo lying. No one would ever comment”Look how these individuals of African American decsecent give other upstanding ladies and gentleman of African American decent a bad name”. Hence my point HATE THE PERSONALITY NOT THE PERSON

Did someone spike my latkes or am I making sense?

            Happy Hanukkah

          2. if they were white xian europeans nobody would say anything. only minorities have to be on their best behaviour all the time.

          3. yo bsamim smoker, if they were black i would not give a f**k as to what happened. but the point is that they are jewish and so am i and i along with everyone else have every right to be disguisted by there behavior

  8. So, what really happened here?
I think they just didn’t have a receipt for this one. Probably, if it’s a sheitel she is wearing, it did cost at least a couple thousand.

Also, as far as the issue of whether they agreed to have it washed, are you kidding, there is no way they sent it purposely to be washed.

    1. Yeah they prob spent about that much originally and figured they could take the cleaners for it by doing this shtick.

They’re totally arrogant for doing it on TV though. Don’t they care how it’ll reflect on other Jews if they get caught? Now it makes us all look crooked, stupid -and of course arrogant.

    1. No, no, no. Not a thick Israeli accent. A very thick Brooklyn Jewish accent. Very thick, like every morah my kids have ever had.

      1. That’s so funny, I could have sworn it was a Latino accent. Esp with a name like Heidi… I suspect she is of Latina background.

  9. Guys, I took a look at this video, and I tell ya the truth : I just can’t figure out who’s takin who to the cleaners LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(If you don’t get that joke, ask Phil to explain it)

  10. There is an asay to wear a head covering there is a lo sasay to lie , so can’t we tayna asay docheh lo sasay?

    1. Hair covering is not a “Esei”. Leaving your home without a hair covering is a “Lo sasei”.
Lying is an “Esei”. “Midvar sheker tirchak” – that’s a positive commandment to distance oneself from fasehood.

I hope this was a joke.

  11. Funny to watch yet very sad in reality. Not only do they try to steal, but they do a half ass attempt on natiowide TV in front of millions of viewers and get caught. To millions that never acutally see or meet frum Jews, the chances are that their low opinion of us is set for life.

    1. I think here punishment should be that she has to wear that f@cked up shietle on her head for the rest of her life LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. LOL, +1 on her being sentenced to wear the wig that got washed, BmamimSmoked! ;^D It totally looked like something Phil Spector would’ve worn … he even would’ve worn it to court. ;^D

    2. So Phil, what do you think? Do the have heter of:
A.osek bmitzvah(covering one’s hair) patur min hamitzvah(chillul hashem and lying)

B.Or maybe osek bmitzvah(paying your kid’s tuition) patur min hamtzvah(chillul hashem and lying).

      C. Osek bmitzvah(making your wife look beutifull enough so you can perform the mitzvah of pru urevu) patur min hamitzvah(chillul hashem and lying)

P.S.( I know I’m going to get a lot of flack from this) but isn’t thier a gemorah that states that we learn out from “hayfiru Mehar Paran” that everything that belongs to goyim god has made hefker and hence we can take it from them?

      1. Bsamim,

I think the bsamim are starting to cloud your judgment, pun intended.

At best, the would be cases of mitzvah haba me-aveira. Clearly forbidden to do so l’chatchila. That would refer only to the stealing part, the chillul hashem is worse, and just plain idiocy to do in front of a nationwide/worldwide audience.

I’m not familiar with the gemara you mentioned, would you know which tractate/daf?

        1. And think of the damage it does to us in other areas. How are we going to keep our hard-earned reputation for smarts and wit with people like that on TV? At least a complicated financial scam or running a profitable organ-smuggling ring makes people say “Even when they’re bad those Jews know how to do things the clever way.”

Herschel of Ostropol would hang his head in shame at such a low-class boorish shakedown.

  12. I think here punishment should be that she has to wear that f@cked up shietle on her head for the rest of her life LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. The demeanor of the plaintiffs after the judge read them the riot act and handed down the ruling for the defendant cemented to me that they were guilty as sin.

The first thing I think tipped the judge off was when the plaintiff told the judge she owned one wig and one fall. The judge asks her, so what she’s wearing in court is a fall? — the plaintiff responded casually that no, this is a wig.

The significance of that exchange only became apparent later on. On my first viewing, it did register in the back of my mind, I wonder whose wig she borrowed for court then? It’s a really swank one.

      1. Yup the fact that they didn’t deny blatantly what the judge said made it obvious that they were laying, if they were saying the truth they would have insisted. Good point as far and the fall and wig i didn’t pick up on that when watching the video but u probably are right that it tipped the judge that something is up.

      2. Yeah, you would think she would say, “I had two wigs and now I’m down to one, and then I have a fall.” I love they way she throws around the term “fall” like she expects the judge to know it.

  13. I’m glad this kind of thing is happening. It has to happen if we are to get rid of this triumphant haredi mentality that has so absorbed a large segment of our people. It is a false religiousity built out of a holier than thou attitude of entitlement. Sickening. Haredim need a reality check and only acts of this level of idiocy will show them how effed-up they really are.

    1. dont worry it does nothing of the sort, we always knew there were some bad people amongst us. The only thing this highlighted perhaps, is the stupidity some of those people exhibit

    2. Well, someone soundslike he’s got quite a chip on his shoulder.
What’s the matter? Can’t come to terms with the fact that people who actually keep the Torah are better than you? Is that why you derive from this one case that chareidim are a society of “false religiousity built out of a holier than thou attitude of entitlement”?

I guess you would have no objection to anyone who considers you “not frum” and invalid for Jewish testimony, as there are many modern Orthodox who don’t keep Halacha.

Don’t like the paintbrush? Do you feel guilty for not living the life of a Jew? Why don’t you get all heated up against chareidim about some other idiotic nonsense. It won’t solve your problem, but it’ll distract you from it.

  14. David S,

What makes these people Charedim? Just because they cover their heads? So does bin ladin…

Calling these people frum is an insult to frum people. In my point of view, they are no frummer than one who drives to shul on Shabbat or eats non kosher food in public.

    1. In truth there is no group that can honestly call itself Charedi. The word itself is offensive unless applied to truly holy people. “One who trembles in fear of God” is what it means. Unless you are truly one of those people then the label is just a way of saying “I’m better than you are. “

      1. Idiotic enough that these guys decided to go on TV for this, but if you know you are gonna be on TV hit the gym a bit and lose that beer belly. Forget the whole issue of being caught in a lie, what were these guys thinking by deciding to go on TV, they look like absolute idiots even without the lying aspect…

      2. How much of it is the pregnancy that (given her frum status and her presumed age based on the 10 years married thing) almost certainly exists, though?

          1. But your fine with someone going into gory detail about someone’s being overweight after she’s going through hell as it is with the TV humiliation thing.

  15. What I really noticed about Heidi’s appearance was that the average non-frum viewer would think that she got all dolled up for court in that dress, vest, and boots, when in reality that’s how Brooklyn frum women dress every day, even when all they have to do is change diapers and wipe spitup.

  16. The fat frum cow, is a freakin abuser. Not only does the wig that she is trying to scam costs $3,000, but her clothes cost a good $6,000, they are from Neiman Marcus. Her shoes cost $1800. Where do these people work? They are freeloaders, who don’t even know how to wash their clothes?! I wonder if they know how to take a shower :).

That woman has a Roma accent. Sarckozy deported her from France and now she is in LA.

I am pretty sure that she has double welfare, from LA county and the State of California and in generous NY.

The wig is not Kosher so how frum is it? Maybe we should donate her some Indian hair, or some squirrel hair so she can eats it carcas after we shave it. 🙂

Heshy, this was brilliant? This is the gossip central, almost all the frum communities have heard about it.

I have some ideas for the new physical year for you, do you still want to be hooked up? Would you like someone from the Pacific Northwest or some bitchy Californian?

    Islander Canvas

  17. ” – —- is in control – don’t f*ck with his authority!”

HESHY, I STRONGLY OBJECT TO YOU USING THE NAME OF G-D IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS A CURSE WORD.

In the future, out of respect for the One above, please don’t.

    1. You should mind your own business. You are probably a bad adulterer, what other sins do you hide? You feed off of trying to make others feel bad, to justify your own salvation anxiety.

Heshy your fine, do whatever you want to do! Its none of anyone’s concern(s).

      Islander Canvas

      1. I see it concerns you when someone else says something to Heshy.
Don’t you think that from your standpoint, that’s a little…. well, hypocritical?

  18. From what I understand Georgi and Georgi’s are not one in the same. Georgi and her husband got divorced and he continued running Georgi’s while she went on her own. Now it does make sense that Georgi’s never heard of the wig brand , because they didn’t make the wig, GEORGI herself did. It also makes sense when she said after the case that Georgi was Out of the country. The judge called the wrong place. I have to admit I wasn’t dan lekaf zechus either but now i understand there’s always another side to a story.

    1. Izzy,

Nice try. Watch the clip again. She called the number on the receipt and confirmed that Heidi bought another wig from them. If they bought the damaged one from Georgi, why did they bring a receipt from Georgi’s?

      1. You may be right. But not necessarily. There may or not be a number on the receipt. From what I understand Georgi’s and Georgi are definitely not the same. She split with him and went out on her own. notice in the video the lady keeps saying that Georgi did it for her. I’m not saying I’m right or wrong but to me it doesn’t add up or at the least the judge should’ve given her a chance to reply. It seemed like they were to stunned to reply coherently. That’s what you get when you have “show” justice for TV. The whole thing was a farce .

        1. Izzy,

If I were in her shoes and had a legitimate claim, I would have fought double as hard if I knew I were right. I would have point out the Georgi difference if I had noticed it, and if I knew that Georgi was out of town, I would have mentioned it right away.

The fact that they were on public TV should have made them even more determined to prove they weren’t attempting fraud, so as not to cause a chillul Hashem.

They walked out with barely a peep. Instead of saying the judge made a horrible mistake, they accepted her verdict.

If I were the judge, I would have smacked them with a major fine equivalent to double the amount they tried to steal, then let them come and fight if they had legitimate proof that they were right.

          1. “If I were the judge, I would have smacked them with a major fine equivalent to double the amount they tried to steal, then let them come and fight if they had legitimate proof that they were right.”

Umm – you know the Judge is not a real Judge and is only arbitrating the dispute. She has no power to do what you suggest. In any event, as with all the TV Judge shows the “loser” never pays anything.

Not defending what was done, just giving some facts to those who think the “People’s Court” and “Judge Judy” are currently real Judges with real authority.

          2. I seriously thought it was a legit court that allowed cameras. You mean to tell me that these idots go on TV when the judgement is worthless???

I guess I don’t watch enough of crap on TV…

  19. Ok, so I honestly don’t believe these people were dumb enough to actually go on TV and file a law suit if they didn’t actually believe that that wig was the $3000 wig. I think they lost the actual wig and it is still lost and their two year old son took some purim wig from his toy room and put it in the laundry bag and that got washed and they assumed it was the $3000 wig that they had lost. I’m not just being dan l’kaf zechut here; I mean really, no one is stupid enough to go on national tv voluntarily (especially the people’s court, which I consider to have the best judge of all the tv court shows) if they’re just trying to make some fast cash…

  20. As a Modern Orthodox Jew, I must say that I am ashamed to admit these liars are my fellow Jews. It also makes the issue of hair covering look even more ridiculous than it must already appear to non-Jews. Talk about Chillul Hashem…

    1. As a regular Orthodox Jew I must say i dont care what goyim think of hair covering, doing mitzvos is never a chilul hashem. Ripping off a hard-wroking family is, especialy when it involves the most asinine scheme ever.

  21. Hesh, these people make me so mad and SOOO freaking happy that C. and I live where we do, so far from all this crap. It makes me angry to have to share the title of Jew with them since they are obviously posers. I just spent 30 minutes explaining the concept of hair covering and Judaism today to a non Jewish MD I work with-Imagine if he saw this. What a Chillul Hashem! There is no reason to be Dan L’kaf zechus these people, take one look at their facial expressions, kids caught in a cookie jar-totally guilty. And they way they skirted the answers at the end was priceless.

  22. “someone might recognize these people” !!!!!! Who cares…..what they have done is outrageous! Is this what they learned in yeshiva or cheder? What shiur did the husband or wife attend advocating lying and making a public spectacle of oneself and the Jewish people?
This isn’t funny this is very sad.

  23. Watch it till the end. The interviewer could have the best line (but didn’t): They lied like a ‘rug’
    Marc Singer

  24. The judge concluded that they were lying … in a very dramatic fashion… but that doesnt mean the judge was correct. Its possible. Its possible they didnt have a receipt for that wig. Remember — this is TV — drama like that is rare in real small claims court. (In real life, the judge dismisses the case b/c they cant prove damages). To that end, I thought it was remarkable that they didnt come with proof of damages — either how much it would cost to fix…or how much a new one cost (even if it was not a 3k)…maybe they didnt know that they needed to. But, at the end of the day — they DID suffer damage. The cleaners washed a wig that it should not have. The cleaners were lucky to walk away without paying anything.

  25. Why is everyone calling him chareidi. He has a beard and black skull cap.
But his wife’s fingers nails are painted. No frum mikva going Jewish woman is allowed to paint her finger nails or even grow them.
    Disgraceful.

    1. “No frum mikva going Jewish woman is allowed to paint her finger nails or even grow them”

you should really get your info right before you post. Frum mikveh going Jewish women can 100% paint their nails and grow them out, as long as they take of the polish and clean and cut their nails before going to the mikveh. FYI you go to the mikveh once a month, so for the rest of the 29 or so days in the month, your nails can be long and painted.

  26. You all should really think twice before you believe everything you see on TV. What people don’t realize is that this is a TV show and everything is done to get more viewers and higher ratings. The judge wanted to make the Jews look like they were lying in in order to get good ratings. Do you want to know what really happened? There are two companies call Georgie who makes wigs; Georgie’s original company is called Georgie International. There is a spin off company called Georgie Wigs. When Judge Milian couldn’t reach Georgie, of Georgie International(because she was out of the country) she called the other company. Georgie Wigs said that the wig in question was not bought there because it wasn’t bought there. the wig was a Georgie International. there are testimonials from Georgie herself a long with the employee of Georgie Wigs who spoke to the judge explaining this. Hopefully this couple is suing the people’s court for ruining their reputation on national television, in a real court, not a pretend one for TV
