Floatilla talk is a waste of time but since you asked

I think that talking about the Floatilla is a waste of time, but you folks keep asking me to write about it again, so I will. I can’t really think of any way to make fun of it other than a Pirates of the Mediterranean spoof – so I figured we might as well talk tachlis and be serious for a moment here.

The Floatilla situation sucks some serious raw deli roll. It blows. It tastes like burnt three day old cholent. When I first heard that a bunch of unemployed lefties were going to try another Exodus I knew we were in for trouble. You see, I knew this would happen and I knew what the reaction would be. If no one would have died the reaction would have been the same. If there were warheads in plain view sitting on top of the ships, the lefties would have been pissed off.

Israel could have let these Turkish ships through but who knows what was on the ships? They should have pulled an Exodus. They could have been like the British and put everyone in Internment Camps and searched the cargo, but that takes time and money and then we would have been branded occupiers.

I know some people are going to bash me for saying this, but it needs to be said. This is a one sided pro-Israel post, mostly because my readers are too sheepish to hear that everything Israel does isn’t necessarily the proper thing. It seems (although both sides seem to be spewing and spinning loads of propaganda) that Israel seriously screwed up, but I’m not saying any of that.

I am merely saying that this happens all the time and it should be expected. The lefties are going to hate on Israel for anything it does, so no trying to please them; the right wingers are going to be pro-Israel no matter what and would never admit to any wrong doing. So why are we wasting our time talking about this Floatilla? I still think about Tortillas when I say it by the way.

Well, because most of us haven’t learned that Israel is screwed no mater what way you put it and the most vocal lefties will hate Israel for all eternity. Of course we can try and sway those in the middle, but most of us have already been swayed by the powerful media that has brainwashed us or our peers.

In my humble opinion, Israel needs to stop worrying about what the world thinks and go about its business. I am pretty sure they are going to take out Iran soon. Everyone will bitch and moan about that too, but just like Osirak, the world will thank us later. Have any of you noticed that Biden came out in support of Israel and Obama hasn’t condemned us?

  1. Uhm, Israels going to take out Iran soon? Wrong. As much as conservative wackos keep trumpeting that- it ain’t gonna happen. I can promise you. ( No sources, it’s just obvious to anyone with a brain. Like me)

  2. My dad, older sister and little brother still live in Iran. I hope nobody takes them out. They are ordinary people just living their lives. :^(

Heshy, you shouldn’t let your readers push you to get specific and political on your own satire / humor blog if that’s not what you really feel like doing.

The thing about an issue so charged as this is, no matter what you say, unless you explicitly take one extremist view or the other, you will honestly just offend pretty much everyone. That’s a no-win situation for you.

        1. I imagine my thoughts on the flotilla are way out of step with most of the people reading this. However, Phil does have a good point. Egypt needs to man up and take partial responsibility for the miserable conditions in Gaza.

    1. There are ugly elements of “holy war” on both sides of this conflict. (Think Baruch Goldstein, Rabbi Israel Hess and their ilk.) That’s why it’s all so pointless. People who believe they are doing God’s will won’t ever compromise. :^(

      1. Mahla,

God’s will is our only VALID claim to Eretz Yisrael as outlined in the Torah. Not the Balfour declaration or any UN resolution.

        1. Phil, are you saying that you don’t believe the Balfour Declaration or UN resolutions vis-a-vis Israel are valid? Or only that even if they weren’t valid, it would make no difference in your mind? I’m not arguing, I’m just curious.

          1. What I’m saying is that God created the world, all of it belongs to him. He chose to give us ALL of the land of Israel. Whatever anyone else such as Balfour has to say about that is basically irrelevant.

The problem with the Zionist state was that they were brought into existence by organizations such as the UN. If brought the state into existence, they have the right to bring it out of existence, or to further partition it at any time as they see fit.

The early Zionists were staunchly against religion, and made tremendous efforts to eradicate the Torah from their newly founded state, choosing instead to believe in the UN, US and France. Today, we can clearly see what the results are.

        2. I am a Muslim. I believe that Allah gave me the entire world because Islam is the only true religion, especially in areas once controlled by Muslims. That is why Spain and Israel are and forever will be Muslim lands.

Ok I’m not actually a Muslim, but you can see how religious reasoning gets you nowhere.

          1. Off the OJ,

You just pointed out another major flaw with the left wing Israeli mentality of “we’re better than them”. It’s high time for Israel to start playing by the rules of the jungle they live in.

If Gaza had the firepower that Israel did, there wouldn’t be 1 Jew living in the middle East today. According to Torah law, we are commanded to make war even on Shabbat to remove even the slightest threat, such as a non Jew coming to steal straw.

We need to crush them while we still have military advantage, to the point they they will be too afraid to even throw a rock for the next 100 years. The entire operation can be completed within 24-48 hours.

  3. Why are so many leftists supportive of Hamas? Leftists are supposed to support gay marriage and abortion rights, and oppose the death penalty and theocracy. So why are they propping up Hamas?

The only issue on which the leftists agree with Hamas is their hatred of Israel.

  4. Flotilla talk is very important. Israel only gets smeared if people allow it. If everyone who cares about Israel stands up, at least we could show President Obama we exist as American people and he can’t just do whatever he wants to Israel without offending us. Jews have rights, Israel has the right to defend itself. Americans still have the right to support Israel, lets not lose it. Lets keep the right to wear yarmulkes in public without fear of leftist protestors who love Hamas.

  5. Israel should overwhelm the next flotilla with gorillas; if the crew attacks them with sticks and knives the incident will escalate into an international animal rights crisis.

    1. Yechiel,

Therein lies the major fault with the Zionist view. In the Torah’s view, the picture would be a lot simpler:

      1) Accept the 7 Noachide laws and become subservient to us.
      2) Leave.
      3) Die.

Same goes for any non Jew wanting to live within our biblical borders, which include most of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and even parts of Iraq.

      1. oh yeah, ‘our’ borders don’t include canada. phil is exactly like the flotilla tourists it is fun for him to rile-up the situation because he doesn’t have to live there with the consequences.

        1. Anon,

On the contrary, if Israel followed the Meir Kahane plan you wouldn’t need to have your kids walking around with machine guns and get patted down every time you went to pray at the Kotel.

I guess it’s too much to ask of the lazy leftists that like to employ arabs as a source of cheap labor.

          1. Mahla,

Not yet, I’m still in Canada. I have to admit that it’s a lot easier to play armchair general being halfway across the world.

    2. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. Gaza is technically terra nullis now, but it’s de facto controlled by Hamas.

  6. Arguing about Israel on the internet is already a cliche, meaning engaging in pointless aggravation. The only people who comment on things like this, in general, are people who are already highly opinionated. You may as well try to break down a house by bashing your head against the wall, over and over again. That being said, I do think its important to attempt to fight the misinformation that appears to be occurring; the news items have almost exclusively discussed the “Israeli attack on humanitarian aid ship”, inherently portraying the incident as Israeli murder of peaceful, good samaritans, when a trip to YouTube would quickly disabuse anyone of that notion. I’m also rather concerned about the pressure to end the Gaza blockade. My understanding is that generally speaking the Israelis do let sufficient aid and material through to Gaza, and the results have been clear: there has been a significant decrease in successful terror attacks from that region. While it is ultimately a detrimental policy, as the Gazan population can not break from the cycle of violence without the economic stability and growth potential allowed by open ports, it would be unwise for Israel to loosen its stance without serious assurance that Gaza will not immediately revert to its former ways. Note that Egypt and the PA have both been strongly against the easing of the blockade.

    1. True.

it is equally important to argue against nazi lunatics like phil, if he had his way all the antisemitic slanders would be true.

      1. So now I’m the nazi for advocating the defense of Jewish lives and terittory, while you’re the righteous one for siding with those that want us all thrown in the sea?

Do Am Yisrael a favor and f*** off to Gaza City!

  7. Yechiel- the Gaza Strip is part of the Palestinian State

It is only blocked off because Palastinians are hostile against Israel. Hamas has taken over the area, uses children and women as human shields I believe hoping to martyr them, every kid that dies makes the left hate Israel more…

Also I Hate the damn word Flotilla, it has to be one of the worst sounding nouns in any language……

Also- I don’t see any protestors when Hamas sends rockets into Israel, or straps a bomb to a mentally disabled person..

Heshy- I have said that Israel needs to stop caring what people think and just get on with being the Bad Ass it has always been.

Bottom line it is spiritual. The Goyisher spirit will always be at emnity with the Jew.. middle ages its because they would not convert, 100 years ago it was because Jews did well in business. Now it is because Jews dare to stand up for themselves. I think Hashem made it this way, I think we should embrace the separation.

    1. FrumGer, I think you make some balanced comments here, but it makes me sad you want everyone to be separated. I wish everyone could just see the humanity in other good, ordinary people and that we could all just get along. :^(

  8. U hate to say this, but a two state solution is the only solution. Once is rael gives up gaxa and the west bank, only then will their be peace, or a realistic sence of retaliation without being condemned. If israel allows the palestinians to have theor own state, once they fire a single rocket or send an individual over the border, that is offcially a declaration of war according to all countries and Israel will have every right to feclatre war on the gaza strip/west bank. In this way they can obliterate the domestic problem once and for all.

    1. Anon,

Don’t buy into that load of BS. Rabin said the same thing when he gave arafat guns, and Sharon said the same thing before the Gaza pullout. Only thing giving even 1 grain of sand will do is get them hungry for more.

You have to realize that islam doesn’t permit muslims to give away lands they believe are theirs, no matter what. Even ceasfires are only meant as a temporary measure, only to be used to avoid major defeat. Once a ruler feels strong enough, he is obligated to cancel the ceasfire and go back to war.

If you won’t take my word for it, check with your local imam.

  9. I am confused. Do the posters want to kill the 1.2 billion Muslims or only the 1.5 million Gaza Strip residents?

    1. What’s YOUR background, Yechiel, if you don’t mind my asking? (Someone already asked me anonymously; you can see my answer above.)

  10. Yechiel,

You are confused. All I’m saying is that ideally, Israel would be a Jewish country. No mosques or churches, and any non Jew not accepting the 7 laws and behaving, gets deported to one of the other 25 or so arab countries.

    1. Almost all poskim recognize Muslims as being noahide. And many major poskim, including the Rambam, consider Christians to be noahide as well.

      1. Bubba,

Rambam does NOT consider christians and muslims as being noachide, they just don’t fall under avoda zara. Regardless, under Torah law, goyim living in Israel need to be subservient to Jews, and definitely aren’t allowed to have churches and mosques, especialy not on our holy places like the har habayit and mearat hamachpela.

  11. Mahla,

I am Jewish from birth but grew up without any religion. At this point in my life I’m an Orthodox frum agnostic married to a wonderful Jewish wife. I care about all people and have a problem understanding why one life is more valuable than another.

    1. Yechiel,

Another simple answer. Torah says that your enemies life isn’t worth more than yours, and commands us not to have any pity on them just as they wouldn’t have any pity on us.

  12. The country of Britain: has condemned Israel’s actions – as “barbaric.” Together with the UN and other European countries.

Let us just remember who the barbarians truly are.

It was Britain: that went out of its way to sink the ships of escaping refugees from WW2. That is how barbaric the British are. Where was the “Humanitarian Aid” of the British then?

And it was Churchill – who refused all the pleas of Menachem Begin, the Head of the Irgun – to stop the barbaric killing of the refugees on all the boats which the British sank.

Churchill was no hero of WW2, as he is made out to be. He showed his true colours as a barbarian more savage than the Germans.

Churchill could have prevented the murder of millions of Jews by Hitler. Instead, he waited for the Germans to quietly “finish the job.” The European countries and the UN are in no position to talk about “Humanitarian Aid”. Their actions in WW2 show them to be savages, and less than sub-human – especially the British.

    1. In life personal ~or~ geopolitical life very few of us will find real friends when the going gets tough Yechiel. :^(
