I have been listening to Dennis Chambers play his funk for the last few days on my iPod and in traditional Heshy style I usually listen to something of the same letter so I debated if I wanted Dinah Washington, Def Leppard, Dream Theater, Danger Danger or Dio. For one reason or another, I turned on Dio’s Last In Line album and rocked out to that on the way to work this morning.
At about 7pm this evening I got a text message that told me Dio had just passed away from stomach cancer. My hair stood on end as I wondered about the coincidence that I had just listened to Dio for the first time in about 6 months. I wondered what God was telling me as the song Don’t Talk to Strangers got stuck in my head. Rest In Peace Ronnie James Dio. Don’t worry — I have almost all of your albums.
For those of you who aren’t big on 80’s metal you should can find out more about Dio here.

I bought Holy Diver the week it came out. It was among the first records I owned. Loved it.
I’m always wondering what type of music other bloggers listen to
Since you wondered…
Classic rock
Jam bands
Classical composers
Soul
Blues
I used to listen to various subgenres of Metal, as well as classic rock.
Been listening to some Rainbow the last few days. Heaven just got a Hell of a singer.
Neither Heaven nor Hell will be the same.
love dio but killswitch engage did an amazing cover of holy diver.
i listen to metal, mostly. i also like grunge (not so much nirvana). i passionately hate the chevrah and all the little kid choirs that are coming out.
Never heard of him.
I was a huge fan of his back in my youthful headbanging days. The man had an amazing voice.
wow. Danger Danger is one of my favorite bands, didn’t know there was another Jew who liked em. 80s music is the best and the lyrics are pretty awesome; i take lots of them for my divrei torah
